Schrock's Black and Gold Blowout

November 22, 2008 marked the first Black and Gold Blowout at the Schrock house. My neighbors talked me into having a party for the Iowa vs. Minnesota game, so I decided to go for it. I sent out invitations to a few of my neighbors, and family to come join in as the Hawkeyes stick it to the Golden Gophers. Stick it to them, they did, with a 55-0 beat down in the dome. As for my party, I had a few rules. 1) Everyone had to bring a dish to share with everyone, beer drinking makes you hungry. 2) You would only be let in the door if you were wearing Hawkeye clothes of some kind, this led to the "Keepin' It Real" competition that I will talk about in a minute. The "Keepin' It Real" competition was an award that I decided to make up and award to the person who sported the most Hawkeye gear and spirit. A certificate and traveling trophy was the award. It was a lot of fun as everyone did their best to win the award. Those in attendance were Terry and Marie Schrock, Chris, Joni and Baby Shaw, Mike, Heather, Dylanne and Micheala Schrock, John, Denise, Dylan and Jay Harris, Chad and Debs kids (Shay, Ryan and Wyatt), Chad and Deb were in Minnesota at the game and Jason and Erica Liedtke. Below are some pictures of the night.Wyatt won the "Keepin' It Real" award. He was decked out in Hawkeye gear from head to toe including a Hawkeye jacket, onesy, sweatshirt, pants and face tattoo. Way to go Wyatt!
This is the "Shonn-o-meter" that I made to track Shonn's yardage to the single season rushing record. He needed 107 yards to break the record previously held by Tavian Banks, and got 144 yards. Shonn's picture was placed on a magnetic strip so that his progress could be tracked throughout the game. Dylan did a nice job of staying on top of this.
The certificate indicating that Wyatt won the "Keepin' It Real" award. He will keep the certificate, but the trophy will travel from year to year.
The Floyd of Rosedale is the traveling trophy for the "Keepin' It Real" award. I made this thinking it would be fun to develop a traveling trophy. Everyone seemed to be in to the idea.
Mom and Dad in their Hawkeye gear for the party. Sorry Mom, the Hawkeye slippers were not enough to win you the award.
Chris and Joni. Yes, Chris is in Hawkeye gear. When asked, Chris said that he would, "wear anything for a free beer". He was a good sport throughout the night, and might be turning the corner as far as being a Hawk fan is concerned.
Dylan Harris sporting the Hawkeye shirt. He had a tattoo on the back of his neck that said "Go Hawks". He was also in charge of the "Shonn-o-meter".
Here is Wyatt in some of his Hawkeye gear. He's upset because the Hawk game hadn't started yet. Give it time buddy.
The divas of the Black and Gold Blowout. They are Ryan, Shay, Jay, Dylanne and Micheala. They all had "Go Hawks" written on their cheeks. All of us parents think that this is a positive way to raise our kids, with Hawkeye Games!

We all had a blast and maybe next year we can have more people. Don't forget to cheer on the Hawks in whatever bowl game we play in. GO HAWKEYES!
