Poor K'la

As many of you know we have been having some medical problems with our sweet little K'la. She has been having apnea episodes just like when she was a baby. Well, this time around after some testing we finally have an answer. She was diagnosed Tuesday with what is called Chiari malformation of the brain. It basically means that the lower part of her brain is growing down into her spinal column causing pressure and along with it apnea. We will meet with a world renown pediatric neurosurgeon on Monday at the University of Iowa to discuss what we have come to realize a most definite surgery. There doesn't appear to be any other alternative.

The hardest part of all this is watching her play during the day so full of life knowing that she has this terrible condition. We are happy we have an answer, but terrified of our future. We are just enjoying our time together playing as a family now, because we realize the road ahead will probably not be a smooth one. I think the recent flooding and putting Mike out of work temporarily has been a little blessing for us to have some fun time together.

We will update more after we have more clear answers Monday.

HAPPY JULY 4th!

P.S. Happy Birthday Poppa!
